Meet Kirsten from Kirsten's Kitchen

Tell us a little about yourself and what you do.

I'm a 29 (going on 30) year old qualified chef who has worked in the hospitality industry since the age of 20. In 2017 I decided to leave the industry mostly because of the long hours and not getting to spend time with my family. I'm an at-home baker. I started baking on the side in 2017. In 2019 I was retrenched and that's when I decided to try and make my baking a full-time thing.

How old is your business now?

My business is just over a year old.

How did you come up with the idea of and name for your business?

My husband and I thought "Kirsten's Kitchen" had a nice ring to it.

Are you a solo entrepreneur or how many members does your team currently comprise? I do my baking myself. My husband does my buying and deliveries, and when needed, my mom helps me package and do the dishes :)

How do you market your business, and which methods have been most successful for you? I use Facebook and Instagram for marketing but I have found that word of mouth gets me the most sales.

What does a typical day look like for you? And how many hours, on average, do you work daily? When I have a busy day and lots of orders I could work about 8 hours for the day, less if there aren't that many orders.

Where can we find your business on social media?
